TRAINING ON SUSTAINABLE FISHERIES MANAGEMENT IN CONGO

COFREPECHE is currently organizing two basic training seminars in sustainable fisheries management as part of the Technical Assistance to the project “Improvement of the conditions for the exercise of marine fisheries and the sustainability of its management in Congo” funded by the AFD on EU delegated funds. The general objective of this 42-month project is to establish a mode of sustainable fisheries management in the Congo.

The two seminars take place in Brazzaville and Pointe Noire respectively from May 31rst to June 4th  2021 and from June 7th to 11th 2021. The main objective of the two seminars is to provide basic training in the field of sustainable fisheries management to the MAEP staff (Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries) identified as part of the skills assessment carried out during the start-up phase of the project.

More specifically, the two seminars aim at:

  • Building the capacities of DGPA (Directorate General of Fisheries and Aquaculture) agents in oceanography and fisheries management and their applications on Congolese resources and their exploitation;
  • Preparing the agents of the DGPA to approach, under better conditions, the specific training sessions programmed in the project.
