COFREPECHE organizes in the context of the French Development Agency (AFD) funded project “Technical assistance for the Implementation of the IORA (Indian Ocean Rim Association) Action Plan on fisheries, Aquaculture and the Marine Environment”, a training on “Enhancing by-catch landing, valorisation, traceability, and quality, including the development of safe handling guides and species identification guides ”.
The training will take place from the 29th of March and the 1rst of April 2022 in Seychelles and will be transmitted virtually. The event will be hosted by the IORA Secretariat and the AFD technical assistance team.
The programme comprises three days of theoretical training and one day site visits to the port and processing plants which will provide knowledge on identification, monitoring, utilisation, traceability and valorisation of by-catch species in one of the main industrial tuna fisheries in the IORA region. It will also present some of the challenges facing this industry and an opportunity to interact on the regional situation.
