TRAINING SESSIONS OF OBSERVERS FOR THE BLUEFIN TUNA FISHING SEASON IN THE MEDITERRANEAN 2020/2021
Despite the COVID-19 sanitary crisis, COFREPECHE ROP-BFT’s team began on the Monday, 4 of May 2020 the observer training sessions for the bluefin tuna fishing season in the Mediterranean.
The first session took place in Algiers, it will be followed by a training session in Italy, Malta and finally in Tunis.
Our team had to adapt to the pandemic situation in order to respect the sanitary measures of each country, which includes the wearing of a mask for the Maghrebis observers and distance training by videoconference for European observers and for COFREPECHE’s employees.
Thus, the group of observers formed will cover 100% of the tuna seiners benefiting from an ICCAT quota and license, as well as from the bluefin tuna farms involved in the exploitation of bluefin tuna during the 2020/2021 season.
